Dawes and his captain, Will Benson of Sugarloaf Key, Florida, tallied permit measuring 25 inches, 23.25 inches and 27.75 inches on the tournament’s first of three fishing days, as well as a 29-incher on the second day.
Nathaniel Linville of Key West released two permit on the tournament’s second fishing day and one on the third day, and was named first runner-up with 450 points. Linville fished with Captain John O’Hearn of Big Pine Key, Florida.
Jack Lambrecht of Naples, Florida, followed Linville in the standings. He caught and released two permit, earning 300 points, while fishing with Captain Aaron Snell of Key West.
The tournament’s largest single permit, measuring 29.5 inches, was caught by Tom del Bosque of Boca Raton, Florida. He fished with Key West’s Captain Scott Irvine.
Marguerite Meyer of Bozeman, Montana, took top honors for bonefish releases with seven. She was guided by Captain Jared Cyr of Key West.
Anglers on 23 boats released a total of 14 permit and 34 bonefish in the tournament named for the internationally acclaimed Brown, who died in 2003.
