Open-Air Festival to Celebrate Fine Art and Crafts in Key West Feb. 24-25

Creations by more than 120 artists and crafters from around the United States and Canada are to entice attendees Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-25, at the Key West Art and Craft Festival.

Set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, the free-admission show is to feature colorful booths lining the quay at Truman Waterfront Park, a spacious new location backdropped by the blue waters surrounding the island city. The park is located at the end of Southard Street beyond Truman Annex.

The open-air festival, presented by the acclaimed nonprofit Key West Art Center, combines the organization’s popular long-running January craft show and February fine art show into a large and vibrant celebration of creativity.

“Combining the two shows in this new location provides more room for exhibitors and will add so much to the event,” said Susann D’Antonio, director of the multifaceted festival. “As well as shopping for amazing art, patrons can enjoy the fabulous water views, the park and our beautiful environment.”

Juried to ensure high-quality offerings, the event is to present a blend of Florida Keys and national talents — all gathered to display their work to connoisseurs and collectors in Key West’s subtropical setting.

Attendees can expect to find artistry in media including watercolor, oils, acrylics, sculpture, ceramics, collage and photography. Pieces may be executed in styles ranging from traditional to contemporary to tropical.

Crafters and skilled artisans are to showcase creations in glass and fabric, jewelry, pottery, woodcrafts, toys to entice young visitors and more.

The festival also is to feature art and craft demonstrations by participants, taste treats from food trucks, a shaded patron comfort area, ample seating along the water and family-friendly popup entertainment.

“We’ll also have a shuttle that stops at the quay as well as many of the hotels, providing easy access to the show for visitors,” D’Antonio said.

Proceeds from the festival are to help support the Key West Art Center’s programs and maintain the historic 301 Front St. building that houses its gallery.
