BIG PINE KEY, Florida Keys — Team Chillin’ scored a 34.55-pound dolphin fish to take first place and a $7,500 cash prize in the 26th annual Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce Dolphin Tournament that ended June 9.
John Barry of Duck Key, Florida, caught the fish that earned the team its victory and also skippered the boat. The team also consisted of Sheila Barry and Jessica Barry, both of Duck Key.
Second place went to the team aboard No Limit, guided by Garrett George of Miami, Florida. Team member Michael Walker, also of Miami, caught a 32.95-pound dolphin to secure the second spot. Other team members were Miamians Shane Walker, Andy George and Michael Reyes
The Reel Conch team earned third place for a dolphin weighing 31.2 pounds. The fish was caught by Randy Sterling Sr., a resident of Key West, Florida, who also captained the boat. In addition, the Reel Conch team included Randy Sterling Jr. and Shane Curry, both of Key West.
In the junior division, Justin Toro of Miami took first place for the second consecutive year. Fishing on Halftime skippered by Captain Spencer Deno, the young angler caught a 24-pound dolphin.
According to event organizers, the tournament drew 288 participants fishing on 48 boats.
