Key West has been named number one among the Most Excellent Cities Overall to travel worldwide and the Most Excellent Cities for Restaurants by TripAdvisor, one of the world’s top travel planning and booking sites.
Key West also ranked 8th on a list of Most Excellent Cities for Experiences.
"Most Excellent" cities were calculated as a percentage of businesses listed on TripAdvisor that received a Certificate of Excellence recognition within that destination during the qualifying period. Cities must have had a minimum of 1,000 businesses including accommodations, restaurants and experiences listed on TripAdvisor.
"It's a tremendous honor that Key West finished as the top city in the world on the TripAdvisor list," said Stacey Mitchell, marketing director for the Monroe County Tourist Development Council. "It shows that the Key West tourism industry understands the importance of serving our visitors."
Key West Mayor Craig Cates echoed Mitchell’s perspective.
"I am so proud of how this community continues the tradition of 'Conch' hospitality that has passed from generation to generation," Cates said.
