KEY WEST, Florida Keys — Professional personal watercraft racers from all over the world are to roar through Key West waters Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9-10, in a demonstration of speed and skill designed to keep spectators’ adrenaline flowing on overdrive. 
The inaugural P1 AquaX World Championship is to feature top contenders from the U.K., U.S., Europe and Malaysia vying for supremacy in two hotly contested days of racing. Riders expected to compete include AquaX world rankings leaders Chris MacClugage, Eric Francis, Brian Baldwin and Mike Klippenstein.
Races are to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday in Atlantic Ocean waters near Key West’s White Street Pier, located at the intersection of White Street and Atlantic Boulevard. Admission is free for spectators.
Event organizers predict that riders will achieve speeds over 70 mph in the inaugural competition.
As well as fierce competition between professional riders, the weekend is to feature talented amateurs racing in multiple categories.
Personal watercraft aficionados can enjoy the chance to meet the stars of their sport and observe their skill firsthand during the Key West weekend. For those unable to attend in person, organizers plan to stream all races live on Facebook at facebook.com/P1AquaX.
