BIG PINE KEY, Florida Keys — Team Plumb Crazy scored a 34.5-pound dolphin fish to take first place in the 25th annual Big Pine & Lower Keys Dolphin Tournament that ended June 3.
Jodie Wright of Brooksville, Florida, caught the fish that earned the team its victory. The boat was skippered by Captain Clint Ross.
Second place went to the team aboard Ware’s the Fish, guided by Captain Al Ware. Team member Brian Hebert of Metairie, Louisiana, caught a 30.25-pound dolphin to secure the second spot.
The Chillin team, captained by John Barry, earned third place for a dolphin weighing 23.05 pounds that was caught by Jessica Barry of Naples, Florida.
The top female angler was Sheila Barry of Duck Key, Florida, who also fished on Chillin and caught a 22.5-pound dolphin.
In the junior division, Justin Toro of Miami, Florida, took first place. Fishing on Half Time skippered by Captain Spencer Deno, the young angler caught a 13.85-pound dolphin.
According to event organizers, the challenge drew anglers fishing on 41 boats.
