KEY LARGO, Florida Keys — Top trophy honors went to team Pisces, led by Captain Greg Graham of Homestead, Florida, at the Key Largo Sailfish Challenge that ended Jan. 9 in Key Largo.
Teammates John McTurk, also of Homestead, along with Sunrise, Florida, tournament veteran anglers Pete Menten, David Menten, Drake Menten and Casey Menten, scored seven releases for the overall win.

Casey Menten, 14, contributed to the team’s total with one release, but it was enough for her to capture the challenge’s top junior and lady angler titles.

Second place went to team Last Dance with six releases. Naples, Florida, anglers Matt McClean and Mark
Wodlinger were led by Captain Robert Collins of Islamorada, Florida. Three releases by Wodlinger also earned him the tournament’s high-point angler award.

Third place overall went to team Esperanza with Islamorada’s Captain Rusty Albury at the helm. Anglers Bob Rich and John Albury of Islamorada and Kim Lupkin and Conner Lupkin of Hamburg, New York, released four sails.

A total of 24 sailfish were released with 28 hookups, according to tournament organizer Tammie Gurgiolo.

Auction and raffle proceeds were donated to the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center.
